Embrouiller ( Confuse ) My love of black and white India Ink cut out effects of a flowered sandal with a second image underneath. When I worked with Roger Vivier he was famous for creating cut outs of his shoe designs out paper on paper. I wanted to continue that feeling but slightly different utilizing the cut out effect but in more of a stencil form and then leaving space between the pattern as if not to fully connect it.

This technique that I have developed over the years has blossomed into some wonderful but simple paintings with an edge of simplicity and sophistication at the same time. Embrouiller does confuse at first but once you study it, it all comes together in such a beautiful and stylistic way.
